Driving - Sicily, and indeed mainland Italy, is a wonderful destination for a driving holiday and having a car really helps you get the very best out of your trip, with some of the most spectacular sights in the region just a few hours’ drive away. If crossing from mainland Italy at Messina, simply take the A18 down the spectacular coastline, passing Catania along the way and turn off when you see signs for Augusta. The whole journey should take less than two hours. From Catania Airport follow the same instructions.
Air - The nearest airport is Catania International Airport, which is served by a host of major airlines. For internal flights within Italy, check the local Volagratis flight search site.
Trains & Coaches - A picturesque journey, Trenitalia’s entertaining service runs down the east coast of Sicily (actually originating all the way up in Milan), passing the awesome sight of Mount Etna along the way. Surprisingly however, the train service is no quicker than the coach, which also offers the same panoramic experience.
